Yet another day, yet another remake and yet another remake. The latest remix song to face the ire of original makers is none other than Masakali 2.0. Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria, Masakali 2.0 released on April 8, 2020. In less than 24 hours of release, the song has garnered more than 14 million views and is currently trending on #2 on YouTube.

Reacting to Masakali 2.0, the original composer of the song A R Rahman shared an open statement on Twitter in which he mentioned the hard work that went behind the original song. He expressed that Masakali took several sleepless nights, writes, re-writes, over 200 musicians and 365 days of brainstorming. He further urged everyone to watch the original.

Prasoon Joshi, who penned the lyrics of Masakali, wrote on Twitter that all the songs of Delhi 6 are very close to his heart and he feels really saddened to see Masakali utilised insensitively. Delhi 6’s director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra also slammed Masakali 2.0 by saying that it will ruin your eardrums. He added that an iconic song like this needs to be preserved.
