Karan Johar’s Takht: Ever since the makers and the cast have shared the first teaser of Karan Johar’s Takht, said to be a lavish one at that, it has grabbed millions of eyeballs in no time. But here’s something about Karan Johar’s next that not many know, it is set to be the most expensive film of his career.
The investment in Takht is going to break his own record for films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gum, Agneepath, and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehena, which were the expensive films he has produced so far.
Reports said this multi-starrer will have Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar and Vicky Kaushal. Surprisingly, the actors agreed to cut their usual rates but Johar insisted on paying them their actual market worth.
Here have a look at Takht first look:
While it is estimated, Takht might have been even more expensive which is why Johar asked Ayaan Mukerji to announce the release date of his long-delayed film Brahmastra before starting the shoot of Takht. Directed by Ayaan Mukerji, Brahmastra stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Nagarjuna. The film has also gone over-budget. The release date of Brahmastra is finally out now, December 4, 2020, while Karan Johar is going to start Takht’s shoot in March this year, and the film will release on Christmas, 2021.
Going by Bollywood’s recent love for historicals a la Tanhaji and Panipat, Takht is said to be based on the Dara Shikoh-Aurangzeb tussle. Dara Shikoh was said to be a more tolerant potential Mughal emperor who lost out to his younger brother, whose legacy is tarred with his being anti-Hindu.
