Malang box office collection day 1: Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Kemmu’s Malang is this week’s big release at the cinema screens. On its opening day, the film has earned Rs 6.71 crores, confirmed film trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter. In his tweet, Taran Adarsh also revealed that despite receiving an average opening, Malang has emerged as the higher opener of Aditya Roy Kapoor till date, taking over Ashiqui 2.
This Friday had 3 major releases, including aforementioned Mohit Suri’s Malang. Along with Malang, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial comeback Shikara also released on the silver screens and managed to collect Rs 1.20 crore on Day 1. The collection of the film is likely to improve owing to a positive word of mouth and good critical reception.
However, the third major release of this week, i.e Vikram Bhatt’s Hacked opened with disappointing numbers and suffered largely from piracy and absence of star power in the cast. Hacked stars Hina Khan and Rohan Shah in lead roles.
The initial reports clearly paint Malang as a clear the winner at the box office and is likely to continue its hit run over the weekend as well. With Malang’s mass appeal and the kind of response it is getting from the audience, Filmmaker Mohit Suri has proved once again that he is the master of dark and twisted love stories.
Malang is shaping up to be a much-needed hit for Aditya Roy Kapur, who has failed to give a box office hit in long while now. His last hit film was Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which had Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The film also has to give a boost to Aditya Roy Kapur’s career giving him a much-needed makeover, which is likely to rejuvenate people’s interest in him.
Meanwhile, Disha Patani is the national crush of India. She has been giving back to back hits and has several promising upcoming projects. After Malang, Disha Patani will be seen in the much-anticipated film Radhe alongside Salman Khan.
