Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapakk, based on a tale of an acid attack survivor created a lot of hype among the movie buffs, but it seems like her visit to Jawahar Lal University cost her movie’s collection at the box office. Various trade pundits’s expectation from Deepika Padukone’s film has led to disappointment. One of the trade pundits predicted that the film will earn Rs 30-32 crores over the weekend.
Presently, Chhapakk is making snail moves after collecting mere Rs 17 crores over the weekend at the box-office. Though Deepika Padukone received a fair amount of applauds for showing her brave effort for visiting the campus her movie has suffered a lot. It was also clamoured that the movie will be boycotted.
Deepika Padukone has received compliments for her phenomenal acting skills in the movie, however when it comes to collect enough numbers, then it can be said she has failed to cast her spell on the silver screen.
Interestingly, Deepika’s one innocent move turned out to be an advantage for Ajay Devgn’s film Tanahji: The Unsung Warrior. The film is unstoppable at the box office collection, on Wednesday it crossed Rs 100 crore club. This film is in competition with Chappakk and undoubtedly, it so emerged to be a winner at the domestic box office on its sixth day.
To add more advantage to Ajay Devgn’s promotional strategy, Tanahji has been declared tax-free in Uttar Pradesh. This decision was prompted after Devgn’s request to chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
There are various multiple factors that have worked in favour for Ajay Devgn’s film. At the same time, it’s quite unexpected to witness Deepika Padukone’s defeat. Film created enough curiosity among the moviegoers but seems like tables turned, disfavouring to Chapakk.
Indeed, it has a strong storyline to wake up the audience regarding a sensitive issue along with a powerful star cast.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is based on the life of an acid attack survivor who fights for justice. It has remained static on Day 6. Neither jumps, nor dips, despite partial holiday. It had collected a total amount of Rs 26.53 crore.
