Former Union Minister and BJP MP Ananthkumar Hegde claimed that former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis took over the Chief Minister’s post to protect Rs 40,000 crores which came as the central funds to the CM’s control.

However, his party colleague Fadnavis denied all claims and said he wasn’t a part of any big policy decision as Chief Minister. He said all such allegations about him are false.

Hegde, BJP MP from Karnataka is well-known for controversy-prone nature. His new allegation on his own party member will surely come as a huge embarrassment for the BJP. He said that Fadnavis’s sudden takeover as the top minister was a drama and also claimed that it took just 15 hours to ensure that the money is safe.

The MP said more than 40,000 crore money was under Chief Minister’s control. He also said that if NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena came to power, the money would not have spent for development and would have been misused.

Addressing a crowd while campaigning for the by-election in Yellapur situated in Uttara Kannada district on Saturday, he said it was all planned earlier and once his party got to know that NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena are set to form the government, a drama had to be played out to save the money.

Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in by the governor of Maharashtra on November 23 in sudden developments that left the opponents befuddled. He allied with NCP’s Ajit Pawar, who revolted against his party and helped to form BJP a stable government.

However, Fadnavis resigned as chief minister within three days ahead of the floor test admitting his party don’t have enough numbers to prove the majority in the house.
