Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman read the budget of 2020 in the Parliament on Friday in front of the speaker Shri Om Birla. Finance Minister proposed 5 new smart cities. earlier the BJP government has announced 100 smart cities and assured the citizens that the cities would be getting better medication, food, internet and a better way of living. Although it seems that the government was not able to fulfil the earlier task.

Earlier, in the year 2019, the government pushed Rs 6,450 crore for the creation of the smart cities. The amount was increased from the year 2018-19 to 2019-20. It has been researched that approximately 5 thousand projects have been started and an amount of Rs 2 lakh crore have been invested in them. The FM also added that the procedure of the selection of cities would be based on the performance and the potential. Now there are speculations that the cities from Kashmir can be taken under consideration.

The smart cities development project was started in Bhopal in the year 2018. Till then the government has taken several meeting on the development of the smart cities but the localities of the selected cities are not that satisfied. Even on social media people started trolling the government for one more fake promise and they are even asking for the rest of the smart cities.
