Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman didn’t finish her Budget 2020 speech due to some health issues. The Finance Minister reportedly felt unwell during her speech and had given sugar.

News Agency ANI said that the Finance Minister looked uncomfortable and was seen wiping sweat in the Parliament. The Finance Minister was offered candies by the other members of the Parliament.

However, she could not finish the whole speech and compelled to stop it asking speaker Om Birla when two pages were remaining to be read. Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur was also seen offering her a glass of water. However, her aides later said that the Finance Minister’s health condition is stable and ready to place the Budget in the Rajya Sabha.

Sitharaman’s 2 hours and 42 minutes speech was the longest speech ever in history. Last year, she had delivered 2 hours, 17 minutes’ speech. A Kashmiri verse and Tamil poetry were featured in the speech. Before Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech of last year, former finance minister Jaswant Singh’s speech was the longest enough on the budget day. Last year the current FM beat him by 2 minutes.

Another Finance Minister of the NDA government, Arun Jaitley also had delivered some long speech over Budget in the Parliament. Former FM Arun Jaitley took two hours and 10 minutes in his Budget speech in 2014.

Former Finance Minister Manmohan Singh’s 1991 speech was also amongst the longest ones. The former Prime Minister after today’s speech said it was a long budget and he couldn’t absorb it.
