Mumbai cab driver takes Jaipur activist to police station: A poet from Rajasthan has claimed that his Uber driver took him to the police station in Mumbai after coming across his views on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The incident happened shortly after Jaipur poet Bappaditya Sarkar booked a cab after taking a part in anti-CAA protests in Mumbai, Kavita Krishnan, All India Progressive Women’s Association said on Twitter while sharing the screenshots of Sarkar’s experience.
As soon as Sarkar entered the cab, he started a conversation with his friend over the phone about the widespread protests against the CAA, a contentious law that offers exclusive Indian citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from neighboring Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
When the poet was busy with his unnamed friend on the call, the cab driver asked the artist that he needed to visit the ATM. Several minutes after, the Uber diver came back with two policemen, asserting them to arrest Sarkar.

According to the screenshots shared by Kavita, the driver insisted that the poet should be arrested for making alleged anti-national statements. The driver also asked the policemen that Sarkar wanted to repeat Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh in Mumbai.
In the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP’s poll campaign has revolved around Shaheen Bagh with its senior leaders accusing the protesters of being anti-nationals, potential rapists, killers and so on and so forth. Several saffron party leaders have made controversial remarks over the protests including Union Minister Anurag Thakur, MP Parvesh Verma, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Giriraj Singh.
The latest hate rant came from Singh, MP from Bihar’s Begusarai. In a tweet, he claimed that the suicide squads are being trained at Shaheen Bagh without giving proof to substantiate his claim. The senior BJP leader went on to say that Shaheen Bagh has become a place where conspiracy against the country is being hatched.
