After expressing his desire to play T20Is for South Africa, AB de Villiers on Friday showed his interest in making ODI comeback for the nation. In a Big Bash League match between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers, Mr 360 expressed his desire to play ODIs for South Africa. Speaking to the commentators, AB de Villiers said he would be trying to score runs and keep himself fit for the selection.

The 35-year-old batting sensation said that he has been watching Test Cricket recently and had a thought of being on the field. Keeping his fitness in mind, De Villiers said that longer format takes more on the body and playing cricket for 11 months isn’t suitable for him, however, he wouldn’t be taking ODIs out of the equation. He further added that it would be a great honor for him to play international cricket for the country.

After the appointment of Greame Smith and Mark Boucher in Cricket South Africa, AB de Villiers believes that making comeback would not be problem for him. He has been talking to them about his comeback and hopes that the things would definetly workout. Mr 360 said that he would have to score runs for keeping his selection hopes alive.

In the match against Adelaide Strikers, AB de Villiers failed to score big and got out on just 2 runs. Adelaide Strikers thrashed Brisbane Heat by winning the match with ten wickets.

AB de Villiers announced his retirement from international cricket on May 23, 2018. However, the South African star batsman tried to make a comeback in South African side in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, but was too late in the likes of Cricket South Africa selectors.
