Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has said that former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s reminder when he was just 3 runs away from his century in 2011 World Cup final. In a personal attack, Gautam blamed MS Dhoni for missing out his century during the final match against Sri Lanka in the World Cup 2011.

In 2011, India won the World Cup for the second time after 1983. Gautam said every time he is being asked what happened when he was at 97. In an interview with Lallantop, the former batsman said he missed the century due to Dhoni’s reminder.

Dhoni and Gautam were at the crease when India need just a few runs to win the title. Gautam said Dhoni came and reminded him regarding the century. If Dhoni would not have been told Gautam about the century, he would have completed it, recalls Gautam.

He said after getting him reminded about his century, Gautam missed the hundred by losing his wicket. He, however, claimed that his dream was not to complete his century but to chase the target and win the World Cup against Sri Lanka.

In 2007, the T20 World Cup final, Gautam Gambhir had remained the top scorer by scoring 75 runs but he was not awarded the man of the match. In the 2011 World Cup, Gautam Gambhir bagged the man of the match in the finals.

The 38-year-old former cricketer was recently trolled on social media after he was captured eating jalebis in Delhi. The MP had also missed the parliamentary board meeting over the pollution crisis.
