India vs Bangladesh 2nd T20I: India on Thursday levelled the three-match T20I series 1-1 after beating Bangladesh by eight wickets. All thanks to stand-in captain Rohit Sharma for his 43-ball 85 run knock at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. It was a special moment for Rohit who was playing his 100th shortest format game. He was also declared man of the match.

Chasing down the target of 154, India got a decent start with Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan scoring 118-run partnership in just 65 balls. Dhawan lost his wicket for 31 off 27 balls. The skipper hit six sixes and six boundaries. He even slammed three sixes off the three balls. Mosaddek Hossain was unlucky who conceded 21 runs in his lone over. Though Rohit could not complete his ton, he led his team to the victory. For Bangladesh Aminul Islam was the only wicket-taker, dismissing both the openers.

Earlier, Rohit invited Mahmadullah to bat first. Openers Liton Das and Mohammad Naim stitched 60-run stand. They could not take the partnership forward as Das went back to pavilion for 27. Naim was the leading run-getter from his side, scoring 36 runs. Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah made 30 each runs. The team ended up scoring 153 runs for the loss of six wickets. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets, Deepak Chahar, K Khaleel Ahmed and Washington Sundar picked up one each.

India were under pressure as today’s encounter was the must-win game for the hosts. They lost the first match by seven wickets. Both the team were playing without their ace players. Skipper Virat Kohli and pacer Jasprit Bumrah were not included in the squad. Kohli was given a rest while the right-handed bowler was injured.

Shakib Al Hasan and opener Tamim Iqbal did not visit India. The all-rounder was banned for two years while Tamim pulled out of the India tour. The third and final match of the series will be played on Sunday, November 10. Both the team will lock horns at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
