Virat Kohli won the hearts of millions once again when he requested the fans to not clap for him and do the same for Mohammed Shami. Kohli’s gesture went viral on social media. On the next delivery, Shami dismissed Mehidy Hasan as he trapped him for LBW for a golden duck to push down Bangladesh to 140/7 at tea break.
Shami, who claimed a hat-trick in the World Cup 2019, was set to make his maiden Test hat-trick. Taijul Islam defended his hattrick ball successfully.
Shami finished his rampant bowling spell after taking 3 wickets for 27 runs. On the other hand, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked up two wickets each. India bowled out Bangladesh for 150 runs in 58.3 overs.
Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque had won the toss and opted to bat first in the first match of the two-match series in Indore. Musfiqur Rahim was the highest scorer for Bangladesh with scoring 43 runs off 105 balls with four boundaries and one six. Five of Bangladesh batsmen was dismissed with single-digit score
In India’s first innings, hosts’ were unable to make a good start as Bangladesh pacer Abu Jayed stopped Rohit Sharma’s dream run in the longer format of the game. Sharma dismissed for six in the eighth over.
