West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard hailed his teammates after registering an eight-wicket victory over India in the 2nd T20I in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The Carribeans played with domination and showed their skill in the shortest format of the game against the home team. Windies managed to restrict India to 170/7 after 20 overs and chased down the target with nine balls to spare.
After this victory, Pollard and Co took the series into Wednesday’s decider and turned the series interesting for the fans. Pollard in a post-match press conference said to restrict India to 170 was a success for his team. They had some expensive over but still, strategic bowling performance worked out in Thiruvananthapuram.
However, Pollard himself hadn’t had a good day with the ball. The 32-years-old West Indian was hit for three sixes by young Shivam Dube. Pollard gave away 29 runs in just 2 overs on Sunday night at an economy rate of 14.50.
Apart from skipper Kieron Pollard and Jason Holder, West Indies bowling was pretty impressive. Young Windies bowler like Sheldon Cottrell, Kesrick Williams, Hayden Walsh Jr. bowled in good line and length and didn’t give Indian batsmen enough time to settle on the crease.
Pollard said they have played according to the plan. He added there are some players who had a good season in the CPL(Carribean Premier League). Windies skipper also said that he is pretty excited for this young bunch of Windies players.
