Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), big teams have traded star cricketers in exchange of other players and money. Reports said Rajasthan Royals star batsman who also held the reins of the team, Ajinkya Rahane, has been moved to the Delhi capitals. The Delhi team would be exchanging spinners Rahul Tewatia and Mayank Markande to get the top order batsman from the Jaipur franchise.
Delhi capitals’ co-owner Parth Jindal told the media that he is very happy to welcome Ajinkya Rahane to his side and hopes that Rahane will provide more strength to Delhi’s batting order. He added that Rahul and Markand both have bright careers ahead and they will keep impressing with their talent.
“Rahul and Mayank are both extremely talented cricketers with a bright future ahead of them. I am confident they will excel at Rajasthan Royals,” Jindal said.
With changing name, from Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals, the side changed its fortune and performed outstand in the recent edition. Players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw, were top performers for Delhi last time and now Ajinkya Rahane will try to boost teams performance. Before joining Rajasthan, Rahane was associated with Nita Ambani’s Mumbai Indians and now he will give his services to Delhi team.
In 140 IPL games, Ajinkya Rahane has struck over 3,820 runs including 2 quick hundreds.
A couple of days ago, on November 7, Kings XI Punjab had exchanged their skipper R Ashwin for Rs 1.5 crore and Karnataka spinner Jagadeesha Suchith with Delhi Capitals. Reports said that Punjab had also damanded speedster Trent Boult in exchange of Ashwin but Delhi refused to give him.
Rajasthan’s pacer Dhawal Kulkarni will also be going back to Mumbai.
