T10 League 2019: Northern Warriors defeated Maratha Arabians by nine wickets in the opening match of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2019. All thanks to Andre Russell blasting the opponents. He hit the Maratha Arabians’ bowlers left, right and the center. The Caribbean all-rounder scored 58 off just 24 balls.

Chasing down the target of 87, George Munsey and Sam Billings started Northern Warriors’ innings. They got a massive blow when Billings lost his wicket, just after opening is account. It was the big day for Russell as slammed uneaten fifty. His half-century comprised of six sixes and four boundaries. Opener Munsey also scored 24 off 16 balls. Northern Warriors chased down the target within just seven overs. For Maratha Arabians, Dwayne Bravo was the only wicket-taker. 

Earlier, the Bravo-led team scored 88 runs in the allotted 10 overs. Adam Lyth and Chris Lyth started their innings but both departed early. Adam was dismissed for none while Chris scored just four runs. After that, the wickets continued to fall with Chadwick Walton scoring 24, Yuvraj Singh 6, Dasun Shanaka 37*, James Fuller 13 and skipper Bravo 1*.

Like Adam, Wanindu Hasaranga went back without troubling the scorer. For the opponent side, Chris Wood and Andre Russell claimed two each wicket while Buwan Pradeep and Rayad Emrit dismissed one each player.

About the Abu Dhabi IPL 2010 League:

The tournament began on Friday in Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium. As many as eight teams are competing for the title. These are Bangla Tigers, Delhi Bulls, Karnataka Tuskers, Deccan Gladiators, Maratha Arabians, Northern Warriors, Qalandars, Team Abu Dhabi. All the matches will be played at the same venue. The grand finale of the 10-day long league will be played on November 24, 2019. Earlier in 2017, Kerala Kings had won the inaugural edition of the T10 League.
