Uttar Pradesh batsman Priyam Garg will captain the Indian side in the Under-19 ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa next year. Defending champions India will take on the field with Sri Lanka, New Zealand and debutants Japan. The Men in Blue have been placed in Group A. Hosts South Africa has been placed in Group D with the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, and Canada. The tournament will take place across four cities and a total of eight venues of the country from January 17 to February 9.

South Africa hosted the tournament once earlier in 1998. They had won the tournament in 2014. The Proteas will face Afghanistan in the opening match of the tournament at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley on January 19.

India, who lifted the trophy in New Zealand last time, will look the defend the title at any cost. They will take on Sri Lanka at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on January 19.

11 members from the last edition will play in the upcoming edition of the tournament while five continental champions UAE(Asia), Canada (Americas), Nigeria (Africa), Japan (Eat Asia Pacific) Scotland (Europe) will appear in the tournament.
