Tottenham Hotspur appointed Jose Mourinho as the new manager of the club. The Portuguese are set to come in the London-based club on a contract that will continue till the end of the 2022-23 season, said the club on Wednesday.
The 56-year-old Mourinho returns 11 months after he was sacked by Manchester United in December. He is one of the most accomplished managers of the World with having 25 trophies in his bag. He has previously coached top European clubs like Inter Milan, FC Porto, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Real Madrid.
Mourinho has won the domestic titles of four different European countries (England, Portugal, Spain, Italy). He has also won Premier League three times as a coach with London-based club Chelsea in 2005, 2006 and 2015.
Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, Daniel Levy said in an official statement that Mourinho is one of the most successful managers in the world. He added his experience can inspire the team and his football sense will lead the club to success. Levy said the Portuguese can bring energy and belief to the dressing room.

Earlier on Tuesday, Tottenham fired Mauricio Pochettino six months after he took the club to the Champions League final. After announcing the decision, Tottenham chairman David Levy said they are compelled to take such a decision after club’s disappointing run in the league.
