India stole away a match which was very much into New Zealand ‘s pocket with another Super Over victory. The visitors registered their fourth win consecutively in the series to take 4-0 lead in the five-match T20I series in Wellington.
After the match ended in a tie it went to the Super Over where Virat-led India gave another heartbreak to the Kiwis. New Zealand scored 13 runs batting first in the Super Over. Chasing it, KL Rahul and skipper Kohli finished the task with quite ease.
New Zealand needed 11 runs in last 2 overs chasing 166 runs in Wellington. Saini bowled the penultimate over with conceding just 4 runs. Shardul Thakur took the ball to deliver the last over where the hosts needed just 7 runs. However, New Zealand failed to make it as Thakur picked up 3 wickets and it finished with a tie.
Earlier, Manish Pandey led India to a decent total with his unbeaten 50 off 36 balls taking Virat Kohli and Co to 165 for eight against the Blackcaps in the fourth T20 international. India was reeling at 88-6 at one point when Pandey’s brilliant innings rescued the visitors to take them to a respectable total.
KL Rahul continued his good form as he contributed 39 runs off 26 balls including three sixes and two fours. New Zealand won the toss consecutively fourth time today and opted to field.
New Zealand skipper could not play in the match due to his shoulder injury. Tim Southee was the stand-in captain in his absence. India had three changes in their squad today as the team management rested Mohammed Shami, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja while Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar and Navdeep Saini came into their place respectively. Samson (8) came out to open the innings with KL Rahul but failed make his comeback memorable.
