India beat New Zealand in the third T20I on Wednesday in Hamilton to take 3-0 lead in the 5 match T20I series. After allotted 20 overs, scores were tied at 179. Indian opener Rohit Sharma came out with two massive sixes to give India an historic win in New Zealand. This is India’s first-ever T20 series win in the country.

Chasing 180, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson played a brilliant 95 runs innings off 48 balls. The hosts needed just 9 runs in the last over but Shami’s brilliant bowling in the last over helped India to make it a tie. Shami removed well-set Williamson for 95 and dismissed Ross Taylor in the last ball.

In the super over, Williamson and Martin Guptill came out to bat for the hosts. They collected 17 runs in 6 balls. In reply, India’s Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul’s class act took the match away from the Kiwis.

Chasing India’s 180-run target, New Zealand’s opening batsmen Martin Guptill and Colin Munro looked dangerous. Guptill played a couple of cheeky shots against Jasprit Bumrah at the start of the innings. However, Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja removed both of them respectively. Blackcaps team management tried to play a little gamble with their batting line-up when they sent Mitchell Santner and Colin de Grandehomme out in the middle before experienced Ross Taylor.

Kane Williamson has been fantastic on Wednesday. After hitting an incredible 95-run inning, the Blackcaps skipper scored a quick 11 runs off 4 balls. Bumrah had a rough day as he had leaked 45 runs in 4 overs. Being the No 1 bowler of the squad, the onus of bowling in the super over was on his shoulder but the Mumbai Indians pacer gave away 17 runs in that over.

With this win, India has secured their series win. Virat Kohli and Co will face the hosts in the fourth T20I on Friday.
