West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard played a courageous knock against India in the first T20I against India and helped his team to cross 200 run mark. However, captain’s effort went in vain as Windies bowlers couldn’t defend the bid total as India chased it down in just 18.4 overs, thanks to the incredible innings of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul that helped the Indian team to take 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Kieron Pollard led team will be looking to make a comeback in the 2nd T20I to level the series 1-1 and keep themselves alive to the win the series. West Indies skipper is on the verge to reach a batting milestone, as he is just ten runs away from reaching 1000 T20I runs for the West Indies. He will be the fourth Windies batsmen to reach this milestone followed by DJ Bravo, Marlon Samuels, and Christopher Henry Gayle.
Here are top run-scorers for West Indies in T20I:
- Chris Gayle – 1627 Runs in 58 matches
- Marlon Samuels – 1611 runs in 67 matches
- DJ Bravo – 1142 runs in 66 matches
- Kieron Pollard – 990 runs in 66 matches
- Lendl Simmons – 916 runs in 47 matches
As we see, apart from Pollard, Lendl Simmons is also 84 runs away from the 1000 runs milestone. But all the eyes will be on the West Indies skipper as he is very close to the milestone. Apart from personal records, his team would definitely be eager to win the match and give his team a chance to win the series in India.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli and co. would like to seal the series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. India beat West Indies by six wickets as India skipper thrashed Windies bowlers all around the park. He scored his 16th T20I fifty at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
