Its the start of the year 2020 and every cricket is eagerly waiting for one of the biggest T20 cricket league in the world, Indian Premier League. The IPL 2020 will start from March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. There have been reports coming regarding one game per day. According to the sources, the 45 day IPL schedule might be stretched to 57 days.
However the official schedule is yet to be released, the final of the mega tournament will be played on May 24. According to the reports of NDTV sports, there will be a change in the timing of the matches too, the matches that were meant to be started at 8 pm will now start from 7:30 pm onward. Its almost official that matches will start early this season, the reason are not the broadcasters alone, as the previous season matches used to end late.
One of the sources said that the crowd leaving the stadiums after the game was a big issue as they used to reach home late. TRP has also been an issue but early timings will help in sorting out these problems.
On the other hand, IPL franchises are not happy with the decision, they believe that it will be difficult for the crowd to reach stadium based on these timings. One of the official of a franchise stated that it will difficult for person living in a Metro city like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru to reach stadium on time. The working hours usually end at 6 pm and by the time a person reaches home to bring his family, the heavy traffic problem occurs. This things needs to be taken under consideration before making things official, said the official.
In case of double headers, the official franchise said that the broadcasters are not interested in a 4 pm game. But the source said that even teams have problems in revenue generation as they were not able to fill the stadiums at 4 pm.
