After a long period of 10 years, test cricket is going to return in Pakistan in December 2019 when Sri Lanka will play their matches of World Test Championship in Karachi and Rawalpindi. The first test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at the Pindi cricket stadium from December 11 to December 15, 2019. On the other hand, the second test will be played between the two teams from December 19 to December 23, 2019.

As per the previous schedule, Sri Lanka was supposed to play Test matches in October and then return in December for white-ball cricket but the matches were exchanged to provide an opportunity to evaluate the situation before finalizing the venue for the Test matches. The Test match series was confirmed today only when Sri Lanka Cricket Board gave a green signal to future tours following a successful visit for white-ball matches. The tour not only just delivered high-class security but it also provided a message about the security situations in Pakistan as well as the passion and love for the game.

Zakir Khan, Director International Cricket, PCB, said that it is a piece of very exciting news for Pakistan and its reputation of being safe and secure as any other country in the world. he also said that the board is thankful to Sri Lanka Cricket for allowing their team to visit Pakistan for a longer version of the game. he concluded his statement by saying that PCB is trying its best to restore international cricket in the country and this step taken by Sri Lanka Cricket is going to make it easy for them.

Tour schedule for Pakistan vs Sri Lanka matches:

  • 1st Test: From December 11 to December 15, 2019, Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi
  • 2nd Test: From December 19 to December 23, 2019, National Stadium, Karachi
