At Indore’s Holkar Cricket Stadium, Virat Kohli and company showed why they are at the top of the points table in ICC Test Championship rankings. On Day 2 of 1st Test of 2-match series, the Indian captain Virat Kohli, who made a comeback, also gone for 0 on 2 balls without making much pressure on the Bangladeshi bowlers. Ajinkya Rahane also lost his wicket at 86 and after smashing 243 runs, Mayank Agarwal returned to the pavilion. Wriddhiman Saha also scored just 12 runs while Ravindra Jadeja is in the field with Umesh Yadav, and others have been waiting for their chance to bat.
The show was stolen by pacer battery Mohammad Shami (3), Ishant Sharma (2), and Umesh Yadav (2) picked up 7 wickets together, while 2 batsmen were knocked down by spinner R Ashwin. Taijul Islam got run out of a lightning-fast throw from Ravindra Jadeja. India didn’t let Bangladesh come in the driving seat even for once and performed equally brilliant in all departments.
Chasing the small total, India lost big wicket of Rohit Sharma early, which was a shocker for Indian fans and the only moment of joy for Bangladesh. The visitors’ score was not that big that it can put pressure on India. Mayank Aggarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara’s partnership entertained the crowd and brought the home team close to the 100-run mark. India is currently at 454/6 and will continue batting with a deep batting line up waiting in the dressing room.
On Day 1 of 1st Test of 2-match series, Bangladesh skipper Moinul Haque won the toss and elected to bat first on Indore’s flat track. The decision was fine but Virat Kohli and co. had some other plans. Bowlers performed according to the captain’s plan and expectations and restricted the visitors for a low total. In the first inning, Bangladesh only managed to score 150 runs with Mushfiqur Rahim (43) as top scorer.
